Tipperary forward Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher has revealed that the players have set themselves a target of 100 tackles per game.

To achieve that goal, the team’s work rate has to be at a premium in the opening two rounds of the Munster SHC, Tipp have certainly brought a high intensity to their games.

Wins over Waterford and Cork see the Premier County sit top of the table after two rounds and Maher stated to the Tipperary Star that they are placing a big emphasis on their work rate.

“The work rate is great,” said ‘Bonner’. “Our tackle count was 102 altogether – that’s probably one of our pillars; we’re aiming to achieve over one hundred tackles (per game).”

He added: “All of the boys inside there are pure honest. We have the best of the best strength and conditioning behind us and we’re managing our load very well at the moment which is important at this time of the year. So everyone is putting their shoulder to the wheel and really driving forward.”
