The Tipperary CCC have imposed a fine of €1,000 on a team for failing to field in the Tipperary senior hurling championship.

Carrick Swans were allegedly unable to field a team for their Tipperary SHC clash against defending champions Thurles Sarsfields.

They conceded the game to the Tipp club kingpins, but last Monday night, the Tipperary Competition Controls Committee awarded the game to Thurles and handed the Swans the hefty fine.

Surprisingly, the defending South Tipp champions Carrick Swans had already played a championship game as they were dethroned by Killenaule in the South Tipp quarterfinal last Wednesday week.

Carrick Swans have the right to appeal the fine imposed but no decision has been made by the club at the moment.
