Where exactly are we now - 3 Like(s)

Replying To townbuck:  "Omens are bad. Our senior manager is again waffling about hanging around next year."
it's an absolute joke! where is the progression? We have a decent team with some very good forwards, we should be in division 2 and causing a shock here or there in championship like we were under walsh. If he was any sort of a man he would know this himself and step down. I'll pay for his chopper home!!

If Carew thinks we deserve more credit he should know better. Nothing is won 2 games into the league. Anything but a win against a struggling Antrim would bring him/us right back down to earth. All signs point to a win if the boys don't underestimate Antrim and continue to build on what has been an encouraging start. He'll get his credit when he gets us promoted or to Croke Park in august.

Club Season 2017 - 1 Like(s)

Replying To dstuction:  "Every time a defensive system loses the managers/players are deemed to be playing with fear. In most cases the teams just aren't able to carry out or maintain each facet of the game on that given day. Its all about small margins alot of the time. How often do we see team defend great in the first half and then in the second they get tired. That is when player either chose to attack and not get back or just sit back defending. I have heard the term "Get behind the ball and you can rest there" more than a few times a sligo club level. I think Dublin are the best transition team there is and it is this reason that they are hailed the best. They most certainly do not play 15 v 15. They drop men back and protect as good as any team (Tyrone and Donegal included) but the thing about Dublin is they are trained and have the player to change tactics and adapt throughout the game. I would say that Sligo club teams (based on the games I have seen this year) do not. BTW I live in Sligo which is why I have an interest in Sligo football. No club in particular but due to location Id follow the town teams more than some from the country."
Now i don't even know what point you're trying to make? You're somewhat agreeing with me/explaining how defensive systems work and how dublin play. I will not listen to anyone who has described dublin as a defensive team. I'm here talking about a club game I was at this weekend where I saw no player in either teams half on numerous occasions. Having played against both these teams all my life and seeing the teams they both have now I think it's ridiculous to play this way especially when club football is an all time low. I understand why a team would do it when playing a far superior team but either of these teams should have nothing to fear. It's just an eye sore and it's awful to watch.

Replying To Maggiepie:  "Can't say I disagree much with this summation, but I would add the following. Sligo will not win any tight physical game from now on if Mark Breheny is playing, we really only penetrated the Armagh backs when he was gone and Marren came roaming out the field. I did'nt now that Murphy had been sick prior to the game but it showed in his game that he was a bit off. His vocal chords were unaffected however. The Tipp match will be a better test as to where were at, as they will play football for the most part in the traditional way and a good performance here would bring a lot of confidence. I wouldnt read a lot into yesterdays game as Armagh are a very one dimensional team in the Mc Geaney mould and whilst they may steamroll their way over Div 3 teams , they are going nowhere."
"I did'nt now that Murphy had been sick prior to the game but it showed in his game that he was a bit off. His vocal chords were unaffected however." Comical. The man is our most talented/in form player, is sick all week, still kicks 3 points and you want to comment on his mouth. Typical from our fans. As mentioned above there's plenty of names who didn't do much and not a mention of them. We should feel blessed to have a player of his talent, we're lucky to have him lets not berate him over little things. O Hara was never afraid to use his vocal chords as you put it!

Replying To eoinog:  "Another bitter post"
eoinog your personal attacks on sligonian are embarrassing. Are we not from a county thats 2 games from being relegated to the bottom division? He has every right to be bitter! Too many yes man and back patters in this county as it is.
