I'm hearing it's the best Sligo team for years but others years they did under perform when expectations were high. If they win in Castlebar they will fancy their chances of claiming a Connacht title & would be great for Sligo football to have two teams in the final.

Poorest Mayo minor team for a long time, watched Roscommon minors Saturday evening and Mayo won't get within 5 or 6 points of them if their lucky. So maybe a lucky escape that won't get the drubbing Leitrim got !!

Your forgetting Mayo beat a decent Sligo that did well at U16 level two years ago & we have to face Galway away which is a real 50/50 game.

Our minors were poor alright... They tried their best to lose that game in the lst 5 mins... so many turnovers... shooting was poor on both sides.. but minor football can be unpredictable.. I wouldnt completeley write them off... we'll see how Ross do V Galway in Tuam

Minor system is a bit unfair....Sligo are gone for the year while mayo are into a quarter final

It's unfair alright but at least it's old fashion knock out system up to the Connacht final. Kerry will be beaten twice by the time they play their quarter final. Galway didn't play a number of their key players during the league & with home advantage v the rossies they should progress to the final.

there was a back door in the connacht minor championship but for some unknown reason it was got rid of.

Roscommon definitely wanted the back door as it gives an extra game or two (its why they put so much effort into the minor league), Galway and Mayo don't want it as it gives the three other counties a second chance. So who out of Leitrim and Sligo didn't vote for it?

Well we play you away on June 24th according to another thread you won all your challenge game since the All Ireland school champions returned. Should be a good close game, the winner into Connacht final the loser out of the championship.

Looking forward to a good close match vs your minors on the 23rd. Was at most of the Ros league games and they look like a good outfit. How are the Sligo minors looking now with their full team back?

You flew all the way over for minor league games you are some man for one man. Once again nice username but i don't think the full stop suits you.

Will EOH be calling for the head of county minor manager after yesterdays game? Will he be calling on his own head as a selector? Tactial awareness was one point Walsh was slated for, was anyone in Carrick for the minors yesterday?

Firstly he wasn't the manager and secondly any pre game tactics went out the window when they had a player sent off early on

come on anto, get real here. Are you honestly telling me that you cannot have any tactics when you get a man sent off? The old cliche "14 men are hard beaten" .
Ye are some club for backing your own man up no matter what is done.

Hats off to the minor lads as they got within a point of Roscommon at one stage.

Not saying that. You have to change your tactics depending on where Roscommon play their extra man. I wasn't at the game so i assume Ros played extra man in defence which makes it extremely difficult for the remaining forwards to get space and for ball to be delivered to forwards. Other option is a possession game which would be extremely difficult in the weather conditions last Sunday.

On another point Eastern Harps, Shamrock Gaels, Ballymote didn't have any representation on the minor panel this year. What are they doing with underage in those clubs? The panel was essentially from South and North Sligo with West and East having only a handful of players. Something has to be done in these areas to promote GAA as currently we are picking from half the county.
