Sligo manager Daithí Hand is delighted to have two wins from two in the Nicky Rackard Cup.

Last weekend, they defeated a Tyrone side that had beaten favourites Mayo a week earlier to give them four points after two rounds and put them in a great position.

And Hand felt that the game against Tyrone would be a defining fixture in their year, but even the most ardent of Sligo supporter couldn’t have predicted a 3-19 to 1-14 win.

“It’s the fixture I thought was going to make or break the year for us. It’s been in my head for a while now but it’s like everything else, the reason you think about these type of games is because the opposition are so good,” Hand told the Sligo Champion.

“It’s a testament to the lads that they were able to deliver what they were meant to deliver but we haven’t won anything and we’ve an awful lot of work to do on parts of our game still and that’s what the trainings are going to be about now in the next few weeks.”
