Easkey captain Eugene Mullen couldn’t stress enough how important their Connacht club JFC title win was to the club and the whole of Sligo.
For only the second time ever, a Sligo team were crowned Connacht club JFC champions following their win over Galway’s Clonbur last Saturday.
And Mullen told the Sligo Champion that it was difficult to put into words what the win meant to everyone involved.
“I can’t put it into words really. Since the start of the year we’ve been training as hard as we can, thinking in the back of our minds we’d be able to get out of Sligo,” said Mullen.
“But you’re never expecting what happened. It’s unbelievable. And it’s massive for us, for west Sligo and for the county.”
