Double delight for Gort's Mr Ireland

Wayne Walsh was celebrating on the double last weekend.
On Saturday, he lined out at wing back for Gort in their Galway SHC win over Mullagh before being crowned Mr Ireland 2018 in Dublin’s Helix Theatre the following day.
Wayne, who only took up modelling four years ago and will now represent Ireland in the Mr World competition in the Philippines after Christmas, says his team-mates are fully behind him.
“There was a bit of slagging at the start, but they became very interested in my modelling career as time went on, offering me loads of encouragement,” he told the Connacht Tribune.
Wayne’s success comes after Birr hurler and model Oisin Murphy appeared in a fashion shoot wearing his hurling gear in Vogue magazine.
