"It's very valuable to have a man like that at our disposal"

Tyrone's goalkeeper Niall Morgan warms up before the NFL clash with Meath at Pairc Tailteann.

Tyrone boss Mickey Harte says goalkeeper Niall Morgan’s outfield exploits have helped to add another dimension to his team.

Morgan played a crucial role for the Red Hands in pushing up during the last 20 minutes of their victory over Dublin after they’d gone down to 14 men at Croke Park, and the Edendork man is likely to be urged to do more of the same at times during this weekend’s Round 7 showdown with Galway.

“He’s a good footballer and he plays outfield for his club, we all know that now,” Harte told The Irish News.

“He’s comfortable coming off his line, he can avoid men and tackles and he has a good kick-pass.

“So he has lots of things that you would want to have in a player coming out from the back, so he is an extra man, so to speak. He gives you that extra bit of parity of numbers again by coming off the line, it’s very valuable to have a man like that at our disposal.”
