Kilmacud Crokes joint-manager Robbie Brennan says Cian O'Sullivan wasn't considered for selection against Dunboyne yesterday because of his stag party in Madrid.

The Dublin star, who will wed his fiancee Danielle Byrne at Christmas, travelled straight to Pairc Tailteann from Dublin Airport for the Leinster club SFC quarter-final, but didn't feature as Crokes cruised to a 2-17 to 0-7 victory.

"Look it was great to have him here but no, he was never going to play," Brennan told the Irish Daily Star.

"There were a few (players who didn't go on the stag). Paul Mannion was one, and there was close friends who were due to go, but obviously the game took preference.

"I think for Cian, it was his own stag, and for a guy who has given so much to the club and to the county you've got to let him off. He didn't book it in fairness. It was his friends who booked it. That was his excuse anyway!"
