Galway need to up their work rate and intensity for the clash against Wexford this weekend, according to their manager Micheál Donoghue.

Last time out, Galway struggled to shake off the challenge of Carlow, and Donoghue wasn’t impressed by their performance at all.

This Sunday, Wexford come to Pearse Stadium on the back of a draw against Dublin last weekend and Donoghue told the Connacht Tribune that his charges must show a marked improvement against a well-drilled side.

“It’s a competitive championship and every game is really hard. Both teams are very familiar with each other and it’s going to be a huge test,” said Donoghue.

“Wexford are one of the top teams out there and the way they play really suits them. Our work rate and intensity are going to have to improve from the Carlow game, but the lads know that. We are just going to have to up it a gear or two.”
