Kilkenny legend Michael Fennelly isn’t impressed with the GAA’s decision to increase ticket prices for the upcoming Allianz football and hurling leagues.
Yesterday’s meeting of the GAA’s Ard Chomhairle rubber stamped an increase of €3 from €12 to €15 for Division 1 and 2 football games and Division 1A and 1B hurling games.
In Allianz Leagues Divisions 3 and 4 in football, and Divisions 2 and 3 in hurling, the admission prices remain unchanged at €10 and €5.
Juveniles Under 16 will be admitted free except when matches are all-ticket, where the admission will be €5.
The GAA reaffirmed its commitment to ensure that all revenue generated from the Allianz Leagues will be redistributed directly back out to every county but Fennelly – who is part of the Kildare senior football backroom team this year – took to twitter to voice his disapproval…
TweetThis is very disappointing by the @officialgaa. Turning supporters away from going to games. Throw on an extra concert in Pairc Uí Caomh to make up the revenues. Hitting the epicentre of the GAA which is the supporters.
