Ballyboden St Enda’s will face Ballyhale Shamrocks in this year’s Leinster Club SHC decider following an epic extra extra-time semi-final victory over Coolderry at Parnell Park today.

Joe Fortune’s side edged out the Offaly men by 5-28 to 5-25 and they needed two periods of extra-time to get the job done.

Last time out, Clonkill of Westmeath brought the Firhouse Road outfit to extra-time in their quarter-final clash while a reply was required to decide the Dublin SHC final against Kilmacud Crokes.

There was real sense of deja vu at Dublin GAA HQ today as Ballyboden’s battling qualities once again shone through.

Brian Carroll accumulated a remarkable personal tally of 2-16 for Joachim Kelly’s side and his first goal handed his team a one-point advantage with the finishing line in sight.

Paul Ryan forced extra-time, however, after converting a free that was won by Colm Basquel and the scoreboard read Ballyboden 4-17, Coolderry 3-20 at the end of the regulation 60 minutes.

Dublin senior football panelist Basquel bagged a hat-trick of goals, as well as three points, for the winners.

The first 20 minutes of extra-time finished with the sides deadlocked at Ballyboden 5-22, Coolderry 4-25.

The visitor’s cause then wasn’t helped by having three players, including Carroll, sent off in the extra extra-time.

Kevin Brady and goalkeeper Stephen Corcoran also saw red while two yellow cards brought Conal Keaney’s participation to a premature end.

‘Boden capitalised on their numerical advantage with three Ryan frees to advance to the decider.

The full-forward contributed 0-14 to the winners’ final tally.
