Westmeath manager Jack Cooney says his team would be fine with playing their re-fixed league clash against Louth in midweek if needs be.

The Round 6 meeting had been scheduled for last Saturday before being called off due to an unplayable pitch in Drogheda.

The GAA are set to go ahead with their final round of Allianz Football League fixtures this weekend, which will see Westmeath hosting Longford in their promotion bid, and Cooney says they’ll be happy to play the Wee County at a later date in midweek if required to.

“Whatever the CCCC decide we’ll go along with that. If they want to play it midweek, we’ll play it midweek,” the Lake County boss told the Irish Daily Mirror.

“It’s a little bit up in the air. It all depends on the results at the weekend. If results go a certain way that game may not have to be played. If the results go another way, that game will have to be played.”
