Three mouth-watering clashes took place in Round Three of the national hurling league tonight.

It doesn't get much bigger than the all-Munster Division 1A meeting of big guns Cork and Clare at Pairc Ui Rinn, while there were also two intriguing pairings in 1B.

Skin and hair were sure to fly in the midlands derby between Laois and Offaly at Portlaoise, while Waterford would have to be on their guard as they welcomed an up-and-coming Carlow side to Dungarvan.
