Former Kildare great Anthony Rainbow is set to take over the reins of former All-Ireland club senior football champions Ballyboden St Enda's.

The Leinster Leader reports that the Suncroft clubman will lead the Dublin club in 2018, succeeding John O'Brien in the post.

Rainbow lined-out for the best part of two decades with the Lilywhites, winning Leinster titles in 1998 and 2000 and picking up an All Star award in the latter year. He'd retire 10 years later after Kildare's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Down.

In his managerial career so far, the former defender has been in charge of Kildare's U21s and also managed Carlow's seniors between 2012 and 2014.
