Meath v Kildare Semi-final - 20 Like(s)

Replying To ziggy32001:  "eh what did kildare do at senior???"
They were talked about...won all stars and a player of the year award ! Their was buzz in Kildare when Mcgeeney was in charge ! If you can cast you're mind back Ziggy hoganstand had a lot more Kildare posters on hoganstand back then also ! Thats all you need if you never really had much to begin with ! If Andy had the same kinda success as Mcgeeney (4 quarter final appearance, all ireland semi final..division 1 football) ...would you not be happy enough Bunny Ziggy ?

Replying To pauk123:  "The truth is that you need the raw material to work with. Look at the winners of the minor championships over the last 5 years you'll get a good idea of who's at the top now. In Leinster since 2012 Dublin or Kildare have won the Championship. The same is true for the U21 level. You have to go back to 2008 since Meath won a Leinster minor and 2001 (16 years ago!!) since we won the U21, we were knocked out by Westmeath in the 1st round this year! Until that changes no amount of training or fantastic S&C coaches or bravado from the manager will make a blind bit of difference. Consistent production of winning underage teams will filter through to the senior setup, particularly in a county with a strong tradition like Meath. Meath may not have been beaten by as much as Westmeath yesterday but it still would have been a stroll for the Dubs."
Kildare and Dublin did very well underage in the last few years ..Kildare underage system and coaching is the exact same as Meath. Lets say Meath gets the best of everything to develop there underage system to be world class, it still doesn't make a young lad want to play gaa sports ! What i am getting at like it or not but Kieran Mcgeeney Kildare team of the 2007 until 2013 made young lads from Kildare want to play football and take a interest in it..its the bounce you get when you're seniors are going well ! Why did Rugby become so wonderful in this country ? Fastest growing sport in this country over the past few months is MMA sports ! The Conor Mcgregor effect ! Snooker in the 80s...soccer in the 90s, Meath team 86 to 91 gave birth to 1996-1999 winning team ! When things are going well at the top its a easy sell to get young Lads interested in Football . When a senior football team is going well and making progress everybody is interested and everybody wants to be a part of the progress ! Meath gaa years ago got everything and help when asked ..i seen people give Blank cheques to Meath football years ago ! But if you are doing nothing at the top (senior) you get nothing sadly from the bottom (under age) !

I don't see any point in changing manager , maybe Andy might shake up his back room team , new coach might freshing things up and new ideas , plenty of options to improve and push to the next level . Maybe one of the best things we could do is bringing in a free taking coach, working with players once a week on free taking . If we had to land most of our frees last Sunday we may we'll be looking forward to a Leinster final now.

Replying To bdbuddah:  "I don't like the way of thinking that it would be good for Meath/ rest of Leinster if Dublin were put out of Leinster championship. Meath need to get our own house in order, we have a lot going for us and if we get the structures right can be competitive, we have a lot of GAA clubs, growing population and a good football tradition."
Hopefully we will get things right in Meath..

Replying To Analyst:  "So you suggest to increase Div 1 to numbers where Meath could get in. If we were ranked 16th you would go for 2 divisions of 16 ?? 11 teams means 1 team lying idle every round and in all honesty would you honestly say it would do the likes of Meath any good bring beaten out the door every week"
Make it 12 teams or 10 teams it's not the end of the world, I said make the standard of football for everybody better ! I never mentioned Meath in my post that "do it for Meath" "It will make Meath Better" i was talking about everyone ! Just replace Meath with Cork and that should make you happy,I will put Meath and Andy in division 3 just for you :) But another year for Roscommon and Cavan playing at higher level of football would be great for the two counties,i just think having more teams having more experience longer in division 1 would be great ..because only 6 teams stay up every year it's would be better to increase the bracket of the teams staying up so making the Division 1 have 10 teams might improve a lot of teams . Again remove Meath from you're thoughts ...my idea on division 1 has nothing to do with Meath, maybe if i had Carlow or Mongolia instead of Meath after my name you might actually have liked my idea ..

Replying To oldsam_newsam:  "I think that is quite an interesting post. How about expanding it and using the level at the end of the league to dictate the teams in a tiered championship? So, say there are 12 Division 1 teams, 12 Division 2 and 10 Division 3 teams (including London & New York who prob wont compete in the league). Have a promotion and relegation situation of 2 up and two town between those tiers and then base the tiered championship based on the positions of those teams at the end of the league. So senior inter-county would be from div 1, intermediate from div 2 and junior from div 3. (as an aside get away from naming these competitions and GAA guys). then divide into 2 groups of 6 in the case of senior IC and play each other & top 2 in each group go into all ireland semis. In my opinion that wold be more straightforward than the curent lob sided provincial championships and this super 8."
i actually like that idea oldsam_newsam ,not bad at all bud Here is a thought ...if a county wins the all Ireland they go directly into the super 8 for next year instead of playing in the provincial championship . So if Dublin win the ireland in 2017 they go directly into the super 8 2018..so that means leinster will be a competition without Dublin next year 2018 !

oh would i be right in thinking that the attacking Mark got a pass for the 2020 rules ? link I am not a intelligent person like everyone on here ....but but but sure but sure butcher would a big lad in the full forward not be ideal for the attacking Mark ? like what Tyrone did in the league with Mcshane this year when the attacking Mark was being experimented or is the word pepperminted ? P.S the attacking Mark caused Dublin trouble in the league this year...........................................................so it did :)

Nobody knows anything about what the Dublin management feel outside of the camp cause nothing gets out. You have told this fantasy story about how some fella in the stand in PL was raving about James Conlon v Carlow And you expect us to take your word on that ? Have a day off dude! You chat absolute guff, nothing you say can be taken seriously."
is that not just one of the reason why Dublin are a good team that they can identify areas of a opposition that might trouble or worry them...Thing i like about Jim Gavin he treats every team with the same kind of respect be it london or kerry. You could learn a lot from Jim Gavin and drop the Conor McGregor attitude !

I know nobody left the panel ,I just wanted to see what kinda garbage would he tell me.

Nobody on this forum from anywhere knows whats going on in the Dublin camp or can say Dublin genuinely fear anyone. Therefore everything out of RD's mouth is nonsense, like almost every single one of the points he makes. Lives in a fantasy world. Of course Jim Gavin wont be taking Meath lightly, where did I say he would?"
He just a Fan..he doesn't give two boilded sh*tes what anyone thinks or says about him...it amazes me how up tight people get about stuff he says on here, you are chasing unicorns if you think you're going to change that RD lad wayno....but he is harmless he is not going to fly a airplane into hill 16 .....well I hope he doesn't :)

Ive a very rote way of writing, I don't mean it to come off in any sort of belittling way and apologise if you felt it did. It does often seem very complicated, what I try to say, but its just the way I write. I agree, big full forwards (who are also talented) are a longstanding tactic. Case in point McShane. They are an option. My point is more so that people want to throw all the eggs into that one basket, which is very outdated. If we had a viable option for the role then fair enough. The forward mark does make the target man trope more favourable."]i wasn't getting a dig at you Young_gael, i enjoy you're well thought out posts and you play the ball not the man, i just like throwing grenades :)

Replying To latouche25:  "Feis cup last year and league this year make 2 cups if my maths are correct. Add to that the league final which they lost by a point and the Championship semi-final last year. Feis cup semi-final again this year, unbeaten in the Championship so far. No other club comes close to this for consistency. You don't do that with bad forwards, or a bad manager."
But you can do all that when the best players in Meath are missing from January to July When the cats away the mice will play ?

Replying To bert09:  "Disappointed for sure with result today but great to be playing football into August all the same. I don't think we are that far off other division 1 teams. Get two new keepers and a good freetaker and thats at least +5 points per game that we gain straight away. Momentum at this level is huge and kicking the ball away from kickouts or missing handy frees just kills off any momentum particularly at top level where top teams have a knack of capitalising on such mistakes. Will Andy sign up for another 3 years?"
I hope he those sign up for another 3 years..

Some great performances and I was sneered and laughed at on here for my unwavering praise of Adam Flanagan but my God what a performance! Absolutely immense yet again. Left everything on the pitch. Becoming undroppable. Croke Park really suits him. Hopefully now we regroup and have a good go at Dublin presuming they win. Though if Kildare were better they'd be a lot closer. On a side note have to say McQuillan the ref had a shocker today. Numerous yellow cards to Meath for nothing. Changing decisions etc didn't seem he had a grasp on the game from the get go. Anyways looking forward to the customary Supermacs Snack Box with the little one.......will taste all the sweeter now! An Mhi Abu! HON THE ROYAL!"
