Planning Permission is required first!
It is a long way off starting yet.

The county board are in the process of putting together the design team which requires architects, engineers, QS & various consultants required for a project of this size.
Final designs are required for planning and then you will have the tender process.

And then you have funding. There is a long road ahead in securing funding for the different phases of the current proposal.

I would be amazed if any demolition / building started before 2019.

I understand that the tender process will run in tandem with planning permission so once permission is granted for the initial phase(s) they will be pretty much ready to rock, I hope that we will see some activity in 2018 and once funding is agreed then I don't see why we shouldn't see action soon as I don't think there will be any planning issues to overcome

Watching the hurling in Pairc Ui Chamoimh and the small stand there is lovely, something like that would do lovely for Navan. Maybe a little smaller as that is 8,000 but that's the template

Agreed, that's a fine stand and having the floodlights on pylons on the roof is another good job, four dressing rooms underneath and your away in a hack

No one could argue that patrc Tailteann needs to be developed but its proposed that clubs are funding it with a €5,000 levy for each club. So whether you're the biggest club or the smallest club in the county you pay the same amount. That will not work and should not be accepted as a proper funding proposal.

But there was unanimous approval from the clubs to proceed with the development at a county board meeting, not one voice of disapproval. I don't know if it's a levy or not but the clubs would have known before voting that some contribution would be needed and they all voted in favour, I think the clubs have options as to how they can contribute to the cause.

It is not a levy. It is an interest free loan to the County Board of €5,000 by each club and this money is being used for the €300k planning & tender process and not the actual development.

Correction to my earlier post. It is a €5k levy on each club which would seem unfair as the Dunganny levies were on a sliding scale from Senior to Junior.

Facilities continue to decline at the old venue. Electronic scoreboard has now joined the floodlights in he 'exit department' on Saturday a jumble of letters were used to denote the teams on the field. In the IHC final the clock did not work for the second half or somebody forgot to restart it! Hardly good enough for the admission charged. Then in the SHC final the wrong team was credited with a score, not once but twice, while the mistakes were eventually corrected it is hardly good enough especially considering the faux pas that was made in Croke Park last year. We are not learning from mistakes made previously.

How did the sale of the floodlights go? According to the Chronicle earlier in the year, they were up for sale. Maybe we could use the money to get the scoreboard fixed!

Didn't sell I don't think, still lying in front to the two grass banks I believe, any idea how much money they wanted for them? Id be surprised at some club not wanting them

Because 1) the foundations weren't strong enough and 2) the poles weren't centered on the foundations. So they were deemed unsafe and ordered to be taken down. You would think erecting floodlights would be a fairly straightforward job.

You would think so.

You would also think that they people putting them up would know what they were doing.
You would also think that they would have done the job correctly.
You would also think that whoever signed off on the project would have noticed that it was not done correctly.
You would also think that someone would be held accountable for it not having been done properly.

However, you would apparently be wrong to think any of those things.

If a club has to stump up for the transport, installation, wiring, generator, concrete, planning permission etc. They'd probably just be better off buying a new set of lights and get all the guarantees and extended life involved, rather than an 11 year old set.
