Some quality subs

Thomas McGovern"
Bar a couple of iffy performances, James mcentee has been very very good for last 2 years, def ahead of forde in the pecking order at wing back.

Has anyone any idea on when a decision will be made on Andy Mc. I would hope and assume he will be reappointed in a straightforward way. sooner the better and he can start work for next year and the panel have clarity

Went to Navan this evening to see Ratoath v Summerhill and Dunboyne v Na Fianna. Few conclusions with Meath panel for next year in mind.

- Ratoath Summerhill match was poor fare. Ratoath seemed to lack leaders on the field and Summerhill experience and drive saw them win it after a calamity from Eamon Wallace. Handpassed straight to a Summerhill player under no real pressure coming out of defense and one pass later it was in the net.

- Cian O'Brien came on and looked fit. He glides over the ground like Conor Nash but you'd kind of wish him to take control of the game and be more aggressive. He has the ability to. Ratoath needed someone to take responsibility in last ten minutes.

- Summerhill weren't great and seem to have regressed from previous years. Dardis showed well but you can see he lacks the pace to be an effective intercounty forward in my opinion.

- in second match Robert McCarthy was simply sensational, probably best performance I've seen in a Meath club match since Giles was playing for Skyrne. If he wasn't plucking balls out of the sky in full forward line like Donaghy he was kicking incredible points off his left foot. He must have kicked at least 4 points as good as Mannions for Dublin from the Hogan stand side in second half last Saturday night v Mayo. Andy McEntee was at the match, surely he must be thinking how can he get this lad involved with the county. His link play is also so impressive. Always takes right option and is so unselfish - set up 2 goals with perfectly weighted hand passes across the goals. He scored 1-6 from play.

- Shane Walsh gave Lavin a torrid time in first half and really is going to be a top class footballer for Meath, he was brilliant at times. Great temperament as well, Dunboyne lads targeted him with cheap hits all evening and he didn't react. Touch of the Tyrone antics off some the Dunboyne lads but sure nice lads don't win football matches.

- Dunboyne keeper Flynn looks very good. Tall and rangey, made a very good save in first half and his kickouts to the wings were excellent. Anyone know much about him?

- Wasn't Jamie Queeny so hard done by by Meath all the same. Always did well when given a chance but only saw a few minutes here and there. He was very good tonight, showed his class.

- was impressed also with Dunboyne corner back Sean Ryan and Na Fianna wing back Oran Smullen

- Lenihan was decent enough but long way off where he was previously. He's only back though but might take some time for him to get his form to where it was.

No harm but still dont see why people want O sullivan. What does he offer that others dont? He was average at best in all games this year and would be a bench player for me at best next year.

Disagree if you watch the Meath V Mayo game for example he was constantly fouled on and off the ball. At least 4 or 5 personal fouls against him pullled and dragged him the whole match the ref totally ignored it. Anytime he did mange to get away he caused all sorts of trouble. But he needs to work on been more composed on the ball.

Aaron Lynch had an outstanding game again for Trim almost winning it on his own with 6 pts from play in a 1pt game.

I think Cillians ability to carry so strongly and late into games is why he stays on. He can take the wrong options at times but he is a spark with how he runs and it's under estimated how he tracks back.

Has to improve end product but if he does he can be special

If Cilllian could use possession better he could be one of the best footballers in the country. He has improved from last year. No reason why he cant improve again. He was great during the league. And if the team gets a few additions the likes ROC Donal lenihan and hopefully Shane Walsh can play again. It will take take a bit of pressure off him.

Has improved over last twelve months, still takes the wrong option on occasions and needs to convert more of his scoring chances, however he is one of the most committed players we have, gives 100% in every game and even though games were lost he kept trying never giving up, can pick out a pass and set up many of our scores. A great assett to team.

The lad has just done his leaving and broke into the Meath team a few weeks ago. Give the lad a break. I'm sure he's probably just weighing up his options after collecting results yesterday and will see what the CAO's bring like all his other mates.

I have no problem at all. All I am saying I hope he play next year. We are going to need Shane. And hopefully he is going to to a local college.
