Dont think it is parnaoid waffle, was over on the Louth forum & a poster commented about the lads been out Sunday night knowing they werent playing Monday & couple said they would walk if game went ahead...and thats coming from their own supporters.
Sure alot of refs dont make it easy for us, Dub ref probably wont make too much of a difference!

This week before the Down match should all be about been positive for the players , no negative vibes should be allowed to surface during the preparation to beat Down on Sunday.

What do you read when you open the Meath Hoganstand page ?

Yes the management saying that the calling off of the Louth match last Monday smacked of something more sinister. They state that the Louth players knew long in advance of the Meath player that the match would not be played, and they probably did.
Well I pose this question if the match was fixed for Navan and was called off would the Meath players not have been informed before the Louth players ???
yes they would that is the way things happen!!!
The management should focus on the Down match not what happened on Monday!!!!!

Why would it be expected that the Louth players automatically find out before the Meath players?

Surely HQ carry out this sort of business in a professional manner, which would involve the same email to both county boards at the same time?

I don't see your logic that they'd notify one now, and wait a half a day until we tell the lads up the road?????

Louth players didn't know the game was going to be off on Monday. They knew that they wouldn't be fielding due to a lot of lads having other commitments on the bank holiday Monday.

This is correct. Louth were not going to play on Monday if the pitch was playable or not, good for them I say, it's supposed to be a non-paying hobbie afterall. Bizarre comments from Andy anyone have any idea what he means by "sinister motives"? I really don't see what benefit this is to anyone.
Anyway, Down are very beatable a decent first half to get the crowd behind the team and we'll win this one. I'd be more concerned about Louth to be honest.

My point is, The Meath management should not have been moaning about this in the hoganstand on Wednesday of the biggest match for Meath Football in 20 years. They should have made sure the players were been subjected to nothing but positive vibes from Monday onward. Moaning about sinister motives by Louth on Wednesday will not beat Down on Sunday.

I tell you what will beat Down on Sunday !!!

The Meath Management should abandon this trash defensive football they have been playing in this league, 15 men behind the ball when the other team is attacking. Play the traditional Meath way, Be strong,Stand Up and be counted, work hard for each other, never say die attitude.

With those traditional Meath Football values in place then Move the ball quickly from back to the middle third of the pitch and make sure that we have sufficient forwards that can score in the final quarter.
Abandon the lateral movement of our passing with the hand. Transition the ball quickly to the middle third and then hit our forwards in the scoring zone quickly and accurately . That is what will win the game not whinging about the Louth match been called off on Monday .

One last thing if you think I am mad saying that this is the biggest match for Meath footballers in 20 years then bare this in mind if we are relegated we will be playing the following counties in the league next year, how many of these would we beat ????

We need to stay in Div 2 or we could be on a slippery slope

Carlow
Sligo
Offaly
Laois
Longford
Fermanagh
Westmeath
Derry

I think if Andy gets the wins against Down and Louth he will win fans over and they will all be singing from the one hymn sheet on the "sinister motives comment " ....its Just how the world works a couple of wins and what ever you say is correct an right.

But if he loses and end up in division 3 he just made a rod for his own back with the "sinister motives comment" ....its Just how the world works and what ever you say is crying and making excuses.

Hopefully there will be a big crowd in Navan Sunday to cheer and support the lads on...Hopefully there wont be a big crowd in Navan because if we lose it just means you have a bigger crowd to boo Andy and the lads off the pitch ..its Just how the world works.

So hopefully Andy can turn the tide and get the back to back win and keep us safe from the drop.

I'm pretty sure no one will get distracted that easily! My guess it's trying to create a siege mentality within the team I was just wondering if there's any actual story behind it, it appears not to be the case.

If Andy & rest of management have any sense they will tell those lads to just go out there Sunday hell for leather & just fight for that win. To hell with tactics (or lack of) just go out there and play the best game of their lives. Fight for our position & have the passion they possess which we havent seen lately. I want to see sweat and tears (good ones) for this game. Its ours for the taking & God knows we need our faith restored. All this hullabloo could be the shaking we need. COME ON MEATH!!

Replying To GlasagusOr:  "RO, I'm with Graham on this. Meath's destiny is entirely in their own hands and now is the time to deliver, or face the consequences. Anyway, it is not the Meath way to whinge.

Down played Louth in round 1 when they both had something to play for. We'll (we might) play Louth when they have nothing to play for in terms of relegation/survival, just an old grudge (we're fond of you Ollie!). So whether Tipp have anything to play for against Down or not, is Down's luck ... good or bad. These things tend to balance out.

Meath are now playing the two weakest counties of three in the group (last), so lets hope they can win and show they belong in division 2."
GlasagusOr this is turning out to be a farce alright. Common sense would prevail that the Louth/Meath and Down/Tipp matches be played this weekend and the last round of match be played on Easter Sunday.

What if the Beast from the East strikes for a third time on Easter weekend. It makes sense to get as many games sorted this weekend as possible. Both Meath and Down have total control over their own destinies on Sunday, so just play the game and stop behaving like entitled children.

Common sense is in short supply in HQ, a very poor decision to proceed this way

I replied to this earlier and my opening line basically said you were wrong.

I was reading it back and I think It was quite rude of me to be so blunt so I owe you an apology.

Whilst I do feel quite strongly about the issue, I did not mean to offend anyone.

So I am sorry about that."
No need to apologise, no offence was taken.

I agree the situation is far from what we want and realistically it has the potential to affect results. But I still think we're better off concentrating our focus on ourselves; both responsibility for our past results, and the desperate need for 4 points from 4 in the next 2 games.

Anyone hazard a guess on the team for Sunday? Or what team they would like to see on Sunday?
I'd like to see
Colgan
Keogan
McGill
Glynn
J mcentee
Conlon
Lavin
Menton
Rooney
Biggy
Brennan
O'Sullivan
McMahon
Mckeever
Lenihan
Look I know that won't be team, Glynn isn't going to be thrown in corner back but having seeing him for the tones he is a very good man marker, lavin probably won't go out to wing back but he's also a quick strong runner and I think would be better suited at wing back than cornerback and I think a better defender than his club mate Shane.
Conlon to my knowledge has never played for simonstown at midfield but anytime I've seen him at 6 he's been very impressive, leave him there and he'll hold the middle and let James mcentee and lavin get forward.
Midfield is a tough one to pick I hate to be negative but I really don't think we've quality midfielders, menton has legs and can work up and down the field while Rooney just about gets the nod ahead of Flanagan.
Biggy was brilliant against cork but we need him now more than ever to stand up against down , he has undoubted talent but too often he hasn't done it on the big day.
I've Brennan at 11 because I think he could actually be a good playmaker for us , the problem at the minute is kick passing forward seems to be outlawed. He played two good passes into lenihan in the first half against cork and seems to play with his head up, if we're playing with 3 inside forwards we need someone to pass the quick ball into them. ( id actually like to see Barry dardis play this role but I'm not sure if he's even on the panel)
O'Sullivan played well enough against cork and is easily one of our best players, with 3 lads inside ahead of him he mightn't feel the need to run down blind alleys as much.
I'd go with McMahon Mckeever and lenihan inside. I really believe these lads are class forwards if we can get them on the ball close to goal.
Play McMahon and lenihan inside the 20 and let mckeever roam slightly starting on the D and kick the ball into them.
Sorry for the rant and I know that team won't start and maybe I'm mad to think it's our best 15 but we need to go for broke so that's what I'd do.

Andy was right to call out Louth and the GAA for the mess about the game. Good to see him standing up for our players and calling it out . I know the team will put in a good performance on Sunday which should be enough to win at home

Hearing about the unity within the camp is very good to hear ahead of this game. Yes the wheels came off in Cavan and never really got going since then. But to the man everyone knows what is required on Sunday, and everyone is behind Andy and believes in what he is trying to build within the team and further ahead. There is no loosing the dressing room (hate these soccer analogies coming into football) but that is not true. Every player is playing for manager, and Andy knows he has made mistakes, players know they have not performed to what's required (O'Sullivan and Reilly apart) so everyone knows what's needed on Sunday.
I for one can't wait.

Dont disagree with you much anymore but I do here, Personally I'm a fan of Andy but its been dreadful this year.. You have just thrown out generic mumbo jumbo that doesn't really mean a whole lot..Manager and players were "united" and "knew what had to be done" in the last 3 games and see where that got us! Beaten out the gate.. No one really knows what's going on behind closed doors so I would never speculate either way !

Be nice to see some of this on the pitch on Sunday, but then it would have been even better to see it against Cavan, Tipperary and Cork and then we would not be where we are at the moment.

I hope the performance improves and we retain Division 2 status and go on and have a reasonable championship and start to see some real green shoots emerging.

It would be encouraging to see positive results on the pitch rather than reading this type of mumbo jumbo.

Truth is we do not know what the mood in the camp is or whether the players or management are capable of doing better but Sundays game will at least tell part of the story whatever type of performance we get, good or bad.

Heres hoping....
