Meath V Louth

Dull stuff so far, we're going to have to improve in the second half otherwise there's a good chance we'll be packing our bags because Down are 4pts up at HT and Tipp have nothing to play for.

How did he do when he came on

Job done for Meath in our last 2 league games so well done to the players and management on that. Decent eight point win today but my God the first half was absolutely shocking on our behalf. No excuses Andy has to get this sorted before the Lingford game.

I expected nothing different in this game, Louth players on the field put more effort into this game than any other, even the commentators referenced that, and I felt it would always be a dour defensive game that would scar the inside of your eyes, for today though I don't care as to get out of Drogheda with an 8 point win and our status secure is plenty for today. It certainly hadn't been the league I expected however getting the two wins in the last two games when the pressure on us was huge (made worse by the rearranging of fixtures) is a positive and something that can be built on. Hope Eamon Wallace isn't too badly injured, he will be a huge loss to Ratoath if unavailable, and now we look to Longford and what will be a very very difficult task.

Fairplay to the lads for regrouping and winning well in the end, I know we wanted more out of this league campaign but at least we're not taking the plunge into Div3.

Now while I'm sure McEntee and the squad are aiming for Div1 (Andy said as much in one of his first interviews as Meath manager), we are where we deserve to be. There's no way in hell this Meath team is equipped to play against the big boys, we took a battering against Kildare last year and they couldn't win a game in Div1 (although they were unlucky in some of the early games).

However it's also worth noting that we beat Galway last year to and look where they are now, patience and support is required.

Louth were Lured into a false sense if security first half. Decent second half. We all knew how that game was going to go everyone had it predicted. So please god we wont have anyone on here disecting it. Delighted with that win. Well done to our lads & keeping their heads out there & for keeping out position in division 2. Great day to be from Meath.

The lad has undoubtedly great talent. Just needs to learn a few tricks about inter county

Job done. Never felt we would get beat at any time during game. No real point in dissecting game. High points , the two mcentee played out of their skins, Kennelly had a great game, Brennan showing what he can do. Biggy? Phenomenal!!
Low points. We still struggle against ultra defensive set up, but eamonn Wallace injury biggest worry. Roll on may 13.

Based on the league who are Meaths best 15?

Agree with you. Some of the attention a couple of Meath players were getting was a joke. And when Louth did have a player sent of the Louth fans were cheering him off coming to the sideline.

Fair point. Patience is a virtue and all that. In our case as alluded by Damien Comer (who did not play against ye last year) in the Times today we have been developing for a few seasons and yet are quite young. From a fans viewpoint delighted we persisted with big Kevin as I always wanted minimum 5 yrs for whoever came in in 2015. I presume ye must stick with Andy McEntee as in fairness when the chips were down ye delivered. Louth are not great but a bit like most bordering counties will look for a performance against a neighbour. Longford will be no mugs but a championship battle Meath need at their stage of development. As for us performance tomorrow even in defeat in the hope that we evolve to tackle our noisey neighbours on May 13th.

Oh now that's a good one.
1 colgan
2 lavin
3 McGill
4????
5 mcentee
6 keoghan?
7 mcentee
8 menton
9 Kennelly (1 1/2 games did little wrong)
10 Wallace
11 Brennan
12 biggy
13 O'Sullivan
14 lenihane
15 mckeever.
Possible inclusions
Burke (did nothing wrong today, but pacier players may catch him out)
Conlon ( the lad has serious talent, but might need another year to become a starter)
Rooney (was told he has a nagging injury and that's why not featuring)
Tobin, (I'm sorry but I think better used as a impact sub )
Power (I just don't know what to make of him at minute)
O'Neill, Flanagan etc all vital members of squad and will play their part.

Yes mento took a couple of awful belts right in front of the ref I think only 1 for a yellow card if even. The one where your went man in with elbow high was let got. He was to worried about pull up for siily stuff. Terrible stuff but I its what we have come except these days. Neither set of supporters could have been happy with him.

Reffing is gone to pot. I honestly don't think majority have a clue. The inconsistency is beyond a joke at this stage.
