Very important trip to Newbridge coming up on Sunday also. Never much between us. Hopefully we'll get off the mark here. Word of advice to the team and mentors though, concentration from the start is very important as on several occasions in the past Kildare have scored a goal straight from the throw-in against us, like in that I mean that they have had the ball in the back of the net before we even got a touch so it MUST not happen on Sunday.

Always a close game with Kildare. A great rivalry thats largely unnoticed in both counties. The Lillies led for most of our Walsh Cup match last year before we got our necks out in front.
2A is the minimum level we need to be competing at and given Kildare are a level below us in championship terms ( Meath T2, Kildare CR) I feel this is a must win match.

Never much between these counties over the years. Big ask of Meath to go to Newbridge and win but I think they can do it. They seem to have a good set up this year and a better quality panel of players have committed to the new management. Meath by 2pts.

Meath team named. Strong team, some big names missing, notably Mark O'Sullivan and Gavin McGowan, any updates on squad? Injuries?

Vital win that will stand to them. Got a few wins in a row against Kildare now. Well done to Regan on 1-10.

London calling next. They shipped a big defeat to Kerry at the weekend. London hurling seems to of gone back a bit since they were in the old Leinster round robin a few years ago.
Win that and we should be safe from relegation and can then look at possible promotion.

Good win against Kildare, looked like Kildare we're going to nick it as they had all momentum but the Meath lads reacted well and got a vital score or two to just pull clear. Bench did well when introduced and they're level of fitness looks very high which should stand to them as year goes on. Well done players and Management.

Westmeath at home next. This will represent the hardest match in the group. In Mullingar last year they were always on top but saw plenty that day to suggest we could catch them on the hop.
Nice to be sitting at the top at least for now.

How does promotion work btw? Is it a final then playoff with a 1B team (not that i'm think of promotion ;) )

So you think Westmeath will be that hardest match in the group ? Carlow and deffo Kerry away are real hard matches as well. Meath have done everything asked of them in the first two rounds and now that DIV 2A status is secured for next year I full expect the team to battle hard to get a couple of more wins which would see us in the league final. All the final three matches are extremely hard matches , but that said three great matches to look forward too.

I would of viewed Westmeath as the top team in the division. They've been operating at a higher level then most for a long time now and had an U21 win over Kilkenny (not sure if anyone has fed through yet). They beat us last year while we got a win over Kerry.
Either way 3 remaining games will be very tough.
That match has been moved to the Saturday to avoid O'Byrne Cup clash.

Promotion for one team , top two teams play final, winner goes up to 1B

Looking forward to game v Westmeath on Saturday in Trim. Expect a big crowd to support hurlers as hurling continues to rise. Westmeath are a seasoned outfit and will be hard to beat. Defeat wouldn't be the worst thing once we show competitiveness that we can compete against these calibre of teams. Anyone know how strong Westmeath will be on Saturday? Are we full strength?

Is Joey Keena still on panel? Also Mark O'Sullivan played a bit v London but not on panel this Saturday?

Joey Keena and Mark O'Sullivan are both nursing injuries. Mark was given a run out v London but it appears that management only want 100% fully fit players for today.

Lots of positives from game against Westmeath. First of all good Meath support for this young Meath hurling team. We know we can compete and beat any of these teams in League and upcoming championship. Played really well and showed great heart right to the end. Things to improve on are that we need to hurl for 70 minutes and not have lull spells, when on top score heavily and also mark more tightly in defence as teams like Westmeath will punish us. Looking forward to Meath v Kerry this weekend, another step up and great challenge to this team but they have shown they are well up to this level. Best of luck to team and management. With team getting stronger as more players return I predict Meath by 1pt this Sunday!

With one exception Meath always give Kerry a tight game in Tralee so they shouldn't be overawed by the event. I consider that we have a good defense and with players returning (from both injury and football) our scoring power should also improve, so it's all to play for, Ho the Royals.

Very similar performance to the defeat by westmeath in championship last year. Westmeath a lot more clinical and got scores easier. Meath backs were too loose which westmeath forwards punished. Westmeath are a few years ahead of us in development which was obvious to see. I just think we need a result against Kerry or Carlow for league to be a success and for confidence going into championship. Hopefully we can get some game time into a few other forwards too in remaining games as we had a few passengers in the forwards last week that were giving too much time.
