Joe played with teh old De La Salle underage combination during the 1930s and 40s. Later he became a big follower of the Dunderry club, his wife Marcella (nee Kelly) was from that area. At the time of his passing Joe was an Honorary President of the Dunderry club and club members formed a guard of honour at his burial in Dunderry Cemetery. A great GAA man he passed on that love of our native game to his family and his son Michael is heavily involved with the O'Mahonys in Navan.
