Phyllis was a sister of Harry Dowling who played for Skryne, winning a Junior B Championship medal in 1967. She is also an Aunt of Philip and Mark Kinsella and Gary Johnson who played for the Blues with Philip winning Senior Championship medals in 1992, 93, and 99 and Gary also getting in on the act winning in 1999
