Formerly of Connolly Avenue,  Jim moved to the Mayo town of Claremorris 40 years ago. He remained a loyal Meath supporter. Jim Bennett had played  with the local De La Salle in his youth and was the uncle of current  O' Mahonys treasurer Michael Bennett.
