Both sides traded scores with Andrew Butler getting on the score sheet for Kells. Things got better for Gaeil Colmcille when Smith grabbed his second goal of the game just on the stroke of half time to see Gaeil Colmcille lead 2-03 to 0-03 at the break.

Dunshaughlin looked a different animal from the restart and hit four scores in a row in the opening 9 minutes and it could have been worse were it not for some excellent saves from Kells keeper Sean Thornton. With 12 minutes remaining Kells lead 2-03 to 0-07 thanks to some excellent defending by Kells, but a 1-06 to no reply by Dunshaughlin saw them take control of the game. Dunshaughlin then closed out the game outscoring Kells 0-03 to 0-01 with Williams getting the only score for Kells in the half.
