Aughawillan’s Gary Plunkett is adamant that they will represent Leitrim with pride in the Connacht club SFC.

Last Sunday, they lifted the Leitrim SFC title for the 12th time when defeating defending champions Mohill in an exciting final at Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.

Now, they have almost a month to prepare for the Connacht club SFC semi-final where they will face either Sligo’s Tourlestrane or the Mayo champions (Ballintubber or Breaffy).

And Plunkett told the Leitrim Observer that they will focus on the provincial campaign and hopefully follow in the footsteps of Mohill who did well in last year’s campaign.

“It’s one of those things you don’t look at until the final is over but we have been there before and we were disappointed a couple of years but we want to do Leitrim proud,” said Plunkett.

“Mohill did Leitrim proud last year and we want to keep that up. It’s a different grade of football but that is where you want to be.”
