Cavan's new senior football boss is set to be named next week

Cavan could be set to ratify their new senior football manager as soon as next week, according to a report.

The Breffni County have been on the look-out for a new supremo since Mattie McGleenan stood down at the end of his two-year term a little over a month ago.

Originally, Cavan Gaels boss Jason O'Reilly had been leading the race to succeed McGleenan but it is understood that the Belturbet native has since withdrawn with the Irish Examiner reporting today that the vacancy is now down to a three-horse race.

Former county minor boss Mickey Graham, who has led Mullinalaghta to two Longford SFC titles in recent years, is said to be the current favourite ahead of fellow candidates Micheál McDermott (Ramor United) and ex-Armagh star Aidan O'Rourke.

With interviews taking place this week, the new manager is expected to be ratified at Monday's county board meeting.
