Congratulation to Duleek/Bellewstown's Luke Heeney who featured for the Republic of Ireland's U19 soccer team in a 1-0 friendly win over Romania in Spain yesterday.

The St Patrick's Athletic player - who was 'man-of-the-match' in the east Meath club's JFC C final win over Blackhall Gaels last year - helped the Irish side keep a clean sheet.

Head Coach Tom Mohan and his players will continue their preparations for the Elite Round of the UEFA Under-19 European Championship next month with another game against the Romanians tomorrow (Thursday). Skryne's James Finnerty who plays with Aston Villa is also part of the 20 man squad.

Meanwhile, Drumbaragh clubman Jimmy Corcoran is a member of the Republic of Ireland's U17 squad that will take on Turkey in a friendly at Eamonn Deacy Park tomorrow.
