It’s all to play for as we approach round 5 of the Allianz football leagues – here is our round 4 team of the week…

 

1. Evan Comerford (Dublin)

Stephen Cluxton’s understudy showed his worth with a string of brilliant stops to deny Ryan McHugh, Peadar Mogan and Patrick McBrearty goals in Croke Park on Saturday evening.

2. Sean Powter (Cork)

Powter – who made the scoresheet with a point - and the Rebels continued their winning ways in Division 3 but they were made to sweat by Tipperary.

3. Kevin Maguire (Westmeath)

Maguire was one of the standout performers in defence as Jack Cooney’s side shared the Division 2 spoils with Armagh in Mullingar.

4. Darren O’Hagan (Down)

Down enjoyed a 2-13 to 1-14 victory over Longford and it’s a result that manager Paddy Tally will hope can ignite their promotion push.

5. Brian Howard (Dublin)

The versatile Howard played a leading role in Dublin’s comeback against Donegal and sent over two points.

6. Iain Corbett (Limerick)

Centre-back Corbett was one of five goal scorers in the Treaty County’s impressive eight-point win over Wicklow.

7. Gavin White (Kerry)

The attacking half-back caused plenty of problems for Meath in Fitzgerald Stadium.

8. Ronan Steede (Galway)

The Corofin clubman sent over three points in the Tribesmen’s eye-catching 2-25 to 0-12 success over Tyrone in Tuam.

9. Gearoid McKiernan (Cavan)

After the disappointment of their round 1 performance against Armagh, Cavan have bounced back in style and McKiernan hit five points in their local derby with Fermanagh.

10. Shane McGuigan (Derry)

A return of 1-7 from McGuigan laid the foundations for the Oak Leafers win over Louth.

11. Conor McCarthy (Monaghan)

Along with Conor McManus, McCarthy was a constant thorn in the side of the Mayo defence and finished with 1-3 to his name.

12. Dylan Guiry (Waterford)

Guiry’s goal helped Waterford get their first win in Division 4 at Sligo’s expense in Markievicz Park.

13. Donie Smith (Roscommon)

Smith raised four white flags (two from play) as Roscommon edged out Kildare to keep themselves very much in the frame for an instant return to the top flight.

14. Michael Murphy (Donegal)

The most influential player on the Croke Park pitch, Murphy’s finger prints were all over many of Donegal’s best moments and his dismissal was the main talking point afterwards.

15. Shane Walsh (Galway)

The gifted Walsh showcased his vast array of talents when scoring 1-8 against the Red Hands.
