Francis and Ciaran Flynn

Francis and Ciaran Flynn have made history by becoming the first father and son to serve on the Meath GAA Management Committee at the same time.

After serving as Secretary for five years and opting not to challenge Peter O'Halloran for the role of Chairman, Seneschalstown clubman Francis was elected Assistant Treasurer, beating Eamonn Barry by 106 votes to 74.

Meanwhile, his son Ciaran (Dunsany), who is Juvenile Secretary, was elected unopposed to the position of County Board PRO.

On an eventful Monday night in the Navan O'Mahonys clubhouse, a total of eight new officer were elected onto the Management Committee, including chairman O'Halloran, Vice Chairman John Kavanagh and Mairead Delaney, who has the distinction of becoming Meath's first female Secretary.

Slane clubman Jim Mullery was returned unopposed to serve as treasurer for a sixth consecutive year.
