Thurles Sarsfields 2-28

Loughmore-Castleiney 0-25

Pa Bourke netted either side of the break to propel Thurles Sarsfields to a surprisingly comfortable win over rivals Loughmore-Castleiney in the second round of the Tipperary SHC at Semple Stadium yesterday evening.

County star John McGrath notched 0-14 for the losers, who were well in contention up until the half way stage (1-14 to 0-14). However, they failed to capitalise on the breeze in their favour afterwards and were playing catch up when Bourke buried his second goal on the resumption to put his side 2-17 to 0-15 ahead.

Sarsfields went on to lead 2-22 to 0-20 at the second water break with Padraic and Ronan Maher dominant figures and Bourke registering 2-3. McGrath was left to plough a lone furrow up front for Loughmore.
