Mullinalaghta's Conor and Donal McElligott celebrate after the game

Mullinalaghta defender Donal McElligott believes that they can learn a lot from their All-Ireland club SFC run.

The Longford champions lifted the Leinster title and pushed Kerry outfit Dr Crokes all the way in a remarkable run that was halted in the All-Ireland club semi-final.

It was fairytale stuff by the rural Longford club and it had the GAA masses enthralled throughout the campaign.

McElligott admitted to the Longford Leader that it was hard to take the defeat but added that when they have time to dwell on the campaign, they can learn a lot from it.

“It was completely new to us,” said McElligott. “We will hopefully take the learnings from it and bring it into the future.

“We will pick ourselves up after this and see what we can do from here. This team is not finished yet by a long shot.”
