The Irish man who was assaulted outside Anfield prior to last night's UEFA Champions League clash has been named as Sean Cox who is a former chairman of the St Peter's, Dunboyne GAA club in Co Meath.
The 53-year-old remains in a critical condition in Walton Neurological Centre in Liverpool following an incident before the Liverpool versus Roma tie.
Two men from Rome arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
