Kerry may be forced to field minus the services of experienced midfielder Anthony Maher this year.

A groin injury has sidelined the Duagh clubman so far in 2018 and, speaking to The  Examiner, Kingdom boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice said: "Anthony is not back in with us, yet.

"He is still going through his rehab programme and, when he has that finished, he will make a call.

"He has been carrying out the rehab programme diligently and, when that is completed, he will know whether he can play this season or not."

Meanwhile, Kerry welcome Kildare to Austin Stack Park this evening and will be eager to bounce back from last weekend's disappointing display against Dublin.

Fitzmaurice is expecting a stern test from Cian O'Neill's Lilywhites.

"There will be that bit of desperation about them, because if they lose, they are gone down, whereas if they win, they will still be giving themselves a chance going into the last weekend.

"We are well aware of the threat that will be there against Kildare and we are, hopefully, ready for it."
