A huge shock for ballymun who put up a great display and were tipped to win the club allireland this coming Patrick's day

Nope it wasn't a huge shock the Dublin club championship is highly competitive where any number of teams could win it. Ballymun weren't tipped to win the club All Ireland either as the likes of Dr Crokes,Crossmaglen were well ahead of them in the odds.

Paul Flynn plays for Fingallians, an intermediate club in Dublin. Inaccuracies with regard to club allegiance seems to be a trait of yours 94allstar!

@ Mr pundit. Yes ballymun were favorites to win Dublin Leinster and the club allireland with boylesports paddy powers and coral

The bookies had a lucky escape when Vincent's won

And as for Dublin being competitive it is I will agree but only competitive between 4-5 teams in the top tier of the senior championship

The likes of ballymun Vincent's are top obviously

Kilmacud Parnells a step lower

Endas bridgits a step lower mainly quarter finalists

Isles at the lower end of senior

Until the semi finals ballymun had an easy run non competitive if you will be ating teams by anything from 15-30 points

I was at some of the games and believe me after what I seen in ballymuns tactics and speed I would fret at the thought of them playing our county team when spectators with me at some of the games including colm o Rourke said ballymun would put it up to Dublin in a championship game

Crossmaglen rangers have made some achievement in the past 2 decade's I have an inside view there myself trough relatives but they have a drawn game first round of Ulster to replay first

Crokes look good and are a dark horse but Kerry football in general has taken a step back to tier 2 style in the last 2 year's

Bridgits could surprise any of them again

Have been checking the odds all year and not once were Ballymuun favourites for All Ireland. They were favorites for both Dublin,Leinster but that was more do with what they achieved last season. Like in a county a good team will hammer average/poor team however Dublin club championship has around 4 sides that are good enough to win Leinster and thats what makes it so strong.

Well this year apart from Vincent's v ballymun both teams had an easy championship

Not another club came close to either

I have been backing ballymun all year game by game they were 5/4 to win the coming club allireland final

I backed them at that price

Carrick are going into this game 10/1 while st bridgits are 1/25

@dantoal ya your right I put Paul Flynn and diarmaid Connolly in the opposite places

Connolly scored the equalizer Sunday and was sent off Wednesday evening

At a glance violation it looks so

However compare leitrim senior club football to Dublin

You will find Dublin stronger obviously but both very similar with weak strong and middle of the road teams

I follow club football in a number of counties like Armagh Cavan Tyrone Dublin Meath and I don't think we have a senior club team in leitrimthat would win an intermediate championship in any of those counties

In Dublin senior intermediate junior 1 and 2 are competitive

Yet junior 3-10 are flat all about the same standard as junior A in leitrim

After that junior 11 12 are junior b/c standard

I think it's time some if our facilities were updated and allowed players to follow programmes like m d McCauley Connolly and jack mc caffrey

Then we could play games with the big boys!

I have been backing ballymun all year game by game they were 5/4 to win the coming club allireland final

Odds in mid September with paddypower (Ballymun weren't even top five for the All Ireland)

All Ireland odds (top five)

Dr Crokes 10/3
Crossmaglen 5/1
St Brigids 5/1
Corofin 13/2
Kilmacud Crokes 14/1

Odds in mid October (Ballymun have made it into the top five.)

Dr Crokes 11/4
Crossmaglen 10/3
Corofin 11/2
St Brigids (Ros) 15/2
Ballymun Kickhams 11/1

Those odds were more or less the same with the other bookies so i'm not sure where you were getting 5/4 on Ballymun?

St Vincents,St Brigids,Kilmacud Crokes and Ballymun are four sides in the Dublin championship that are capable of winning a provincial title i don't think you can say that about many other county championships.

Bridgits of blanchardstown have a good few steps to climb to get into the current top 4

Lucky to be quarter finalists

Crokes v bridgits of kiltoom final

Only two years ago Brigids of Dublin reached the Leinster final and lost narrowly to Garrycastle they have since required Leitrims best footballer. If Dr Crokes win Munster and Brigids win Connacht they will face each other in the semi final.

That was when garrycastle and bridgits peaked

They are both since on a slow downward slide

It's great news saintly 3 of the 4 are now back where they should be

If we had conor back wearing 14 and Kevin conlon back from the states to wear 11

Ah stop will ye, those 2 will make little or no difference. Wayne and Shane back would be more of a boost. 3 Beirne brothers fit would be a great boost but we can stop dreaming on that ever happening. Seen too many Leitrim players of their type never reach anything near their potential. I know a red herring when I see one, especially after so many false dawns.

banapublican i couldnt agree more. yes conor has great ability but clearly his mind isnt on the job and you cant go chasing players who in the end probably wont commit full time.
