League 2013

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Well paddy did his knee playing against Armagh and i heard Kevin is off to play football over there for the rest of the summer. I think kiltubrd would be just happy to stay in senior they are hanging on the last few years. Aughnasheelin won't be far away this year in intermediate bet Allen geals yesterday in the league. Next too weeks will tell aljot.

Eggs will be scarce in leitrim this week with all the action in the coming weekend, My predictions, Marys v Bors - should be good game but home advantage should see marys through and more fitter id say. Drumreilly v annaduff - They played last week in the leauge drum won so im going with annaduff to take this one! Allen gaels v Manor - Manor to win easily. Mohill v melvin - hard to call this one draw id say. Kiltubrid v carrigallen - goina tip carigallen but will be another close one! Willies and Gorthletragh another tight 1 to call ill go with the willies tho could go either way

Looking like manor v mohill in the division 1 final 2 games to hand I think

If so I would favour mohill having fell short in senior championship but won at almost every other level this year

To go down bornacoola have probably accepted with no points they will join carrigallen in division 2 next February

Kiltubrid and annaduff have 2 games to hand so will it be a playoff or will it be a case of staying up by default

Just looked at division 2 it's a 3 way

Carrigallen
Fenagh
Ned

So carrigallen to go up Ned v fenagh playoff tight call

Div 1 bor-kiltubrid go down after yesterday

@94AllStar - think you need to take another look at that table.

All clubs up to and including Allen Gaels in 6th are still in with a chance of promotion if certain results scenarios happen. The result of the Manor v Aughnasheelin game this weekend will have a big bearing on this. If Manor were to beat Aughnasheelin then the Division becomes very open again - win it and they are in pole position for promotion.

Manor?

Promotion?

Second string team promoted to division 1?

Carrigallen made a comeback as the year went on and look set for a final

Aughnasheelin topped the table all year until carrigallen edged past

Fenagh are in 3rd place after an average year

If manor beat aughnasheelin. Ned will still be in the top 3

And going on the year they had I would predict aughnasheelin get promoted along with carrigallen

By all standards Ned have had a decent enough year

It's themselves and eslin that have made intermediate football in leitrim as competitive as it is

couple of tasty derbies if ned get promoted, will we still see ned willie drum at under age next year?

Think you took me up wrong 94AllStar - what I meant was that if Aughnasheelin are beaten this weekend it opens up the Division again for teams like Allen Gaels and Glenfarne. If Aughnasheelin are beaten they will only be a point ahead of Glenfarne who have to play them. Manor's 2nd team obviously can't be promoted and are not in the running anyway for the top 2.

You seem to very "southern tinted" glasses in your statement that Aughnasheelin and Eslin made the intermediate championship competitive. I have to say the contribution of Glenfarne to this championship over the last few season's in taking the eventual champions to a replay in the last two years cannot be discounted either in terms of making it competitive.

Ya I agree with ya there Glenfarne have put it upto what ever was put infront of them

Unlucky to have missed out on an intermediate final v eslin

Fenagh havent had the best of summers yet they are still joint 2nd

Once again the league limps out with a wimper, high time to complete div 1 before the club champ starts, if county players are not available for certain games so be it, as a secondary competition it should allow fringe players competitive action to aid preparation for the championship. No one benefits from games in our top tier being forfeited towards the season's end. In any case good luck to both teams in the final, good opportunity for Manor to exact a small measure of revenge for their q final defeat.

A full round of division 2 games today at 12 and then county trials at 3pm most players wouldn't be finished there club game until half 1 then have to head to county trial in carrick at 3pm and try and impress the manager to make the county team. I'm sure allot of players were stiff and tired after playing a game. League has to finish earlier in the year to avoid this happening every year.

@uni Top 2 go up bottom 2 go down

I agree lads the league should be played out in Feb/march/April/may

Championship should be played out in June July august

I noticed this year especially a gap of 6-7 weeks between league games in march April

I must say Division 2 is very exciting at the minute going into the last game with Aughasheelin gone up and one of Drumkeerin,Carrigallen,Fenagh and Allen Gaels all in with a shout of going up also.

The most competitive division and championship by far in the county

If carrigallen can hold the team together they should do it

Think Drumkeerin will do it.

Cloone conceded their game at the weekend and i can't see them getting it together for game with Drumkeerin who had a huge win at the weekend. Was a very tight Division with the teams mentioned plus Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher in contention until the weekend.

With Bornacoola and Kiltubrid coming down into it will be very competitive again next year.

Any thoughts on who will win league final in Div 1 and 2?
