On the face of it, Tyrone and Kerry have nothing to play for on Sunday … but Mattie Donnelly has other ideas!

The Red Hands welcome the Kingdom to Omagh for a Round Seven national football league clash between the current Ulster and Munster champions. Both sides are guaranteed Division One football again next Spring regardless of the outcome and neither can reach the league final.

Sounds like a dead rubber but Tyrone captain Donnelly insists the hosts will want to finish their campaign with victory, especially as this is their last game before the May 20th Ulster SFC quarter-final clash with neighbours Monaghan at the same venue:

"You don't want to be ending the league with a loss, you want to be ending it with a victory, and especially on your home patch, when the crowd is out to see the league finish," the Trillick clubman says in The Irish Sun.

"And it's a good young Kerry team, they were very impressive last week, and that will be another tough game, a brilliant game, to see where we're at before championship.

"We need to make Omagh a tough place to come to. We do want to be leaving that pitch next Sunday in a positive frame of mind, because the next time we'll be back there will be a big tussle with Monaghan."
