Bearna sprung a surprise in the Galway SFC yesterday by beating Salthill-Knocknacarra 0-13 to 0-11 to put themselves in pole position in Group 1 following back to back victories.

Sean Conlon's charges led by 0-9 to 0-6 at half time having overturned an early 0-3 to 0-0 deficit in Pearse Stadium as they backed up their opening round win over neighbours Spiddal.

Salthill-Knocknacarra were raging hot favourites following their 3-13 to 0-10 dismantling of St Michael's and have been tipped to challenge Corofin for this year's title but Bearna defied the odds to defeat the Seasiders.
