Galway v Wexford, Pearse Stadium, 4pm – RTE

Sunday marks the third successive Leinster championship meeting between Galway and Wexford, with Davy Fitzgerald’s Slaneysiders looking to buck the trend and avoid a hat-trick of summer defeats to the Bob O’Keeffe Cup holders.

‘Wexicans’ worldwide will consider their team hard done by not to have started their 2019 championship campaign in victory after Sean Moran’s late, late goal at Parnell Park salvaged Dublin a draw in what was a fascinating contest in the capital.

Sunday’s trip to Salthill sees the ante upped again for the Model men as they prepare to battle a Galway side which haven’t lost in Leinster since finishing second best to Kilkenny in the eastern province’s 2016 decider.

The Tribesmen weren’t all that convincing against Carlow last time out but scored the six-point win nonetheless in a game where recent returnees Joseph Cooney and Johnny Glynn weren’t called upon by Micheál Donoghue.

Instead Conor Cooney and Conor Whelan inflicted the most damage on the Barrowsiders and Fitzgerald will be prioritising keeping those two under wraps, with marksman Joe Canning still sidelined by the groin injury he picked up in the National League semi-final loss to Waterford.

As for the Model men’s attacking threats, not many will argue that Lee Chin, Conor McDonald and Rory O’Connor all have the potential to come up with ingredients for the 5/2 upset on the day.
