Mullinalaghta captain Shane Mulligan with the Leinster club SFC trophy

Mullinalaghta captain Shane Mulligan believes the heart and desire in the side meant that they were never going to give up against Kilmacud Crokes in the Leinster club SFC final.

In what can only be described as a David vs Goliath scenario, the men from Longford produced a phenomenal display to become the first club from the county to win a provincial senior title.

There were unbelievable scenes at the final whistle as Mulligan lifted the cup and he admitted to the Longford Leader that they always knew they would be in the game.

“There is great heart in the dressingroom. The lads would back each other 110%. We battled and we have been on the road for a few years and have taken knocks and haven’t normally managed to cross the line,” said Mulligan.

“We are really living a charmed life at the minute. It’s like we are in a bubble. We are on the crest of a wave.”
