It's not the refs doing the diving or the fouls, for sure they make wrong calls but is the fault with them or those trying to cheat?

Someone has to be the grown up in these situations, tit for tat gets us nowhere. However no one is under an obligation to play inter county or indeed no one has a divine right to either.

It's good that issues are highlighted but I feel that PK starts from a position that the clubs/GAA are guilty and works from there. In the Athenry case it's only at the end that the other side of the story is put and then he doesn't follow up on it. The Dublin case is obviously after going to court but in general should any chairman be dragged before the courts for a few badly chosen words? as others have said it's difficult to get people willing to act on executives and it's also difficult to remove coaches without offending people. PK makes the point several times that the u13s went the season unbeaten in Dublin but is that really important? surely the promotion of both codes at this age out weights dominating at one.

If we really want to stamp out the diving, grabbing arms etc which is nearly impossible for refs to catch in real time just bring in a TMO or a review panel and put match bans in place. Every team is at it and it adds nothing to the game and as already said is plain cheating

Black Card Is Dead - 2 Like(s)
The ref might not have had the best game but there's no way he could see Comer grab Coppers jersey, for the 2nd incident imo Comer cleverly pulled the hand break and the Dublin player fell over him, knocking him down in the process. Ref wasn't 100% sure the actions were deliberate so correctly didn't issue black cards.

Rules - Here We Go Again ! - 1 Like(s)
Unlike the kick out mark, defenders can engage the ball carrier immediately so if the carrier doesn't call the mark and plays on he can't change his mind and look for the free kick.

Pat Spillane surely? Knows what's wrong with everyone else. Seriously it's a big appointment, whoever gets it has a potential golden generation and great expectations so no pressure

HQ can be quick enough to highlight rules re use of pitches so absolutely they should show leadership in this. Years ago after a dust up it was often hard to prove who did what and clubs couldn't/ wouldn't name names, however there is now clear and ample footage available to deal with those bringing our games into disrepute

Dublin's Success Not Down To Money - GAA President - 1 Like(s)
Hard to know where it will be in 10 years but i fear for the game. We could go back and forward on this forever but two things strike from reading this 1/ fundraising is people giving money without expecting a financial reward but sponsorship from the likes of AIG is based on them making a return. 2/ if as some people suggest the future is a return to clubs contesting the AI with say 16 teams in div 1 and 2 how many would be Dublin clubs?

It was a fantastic contest and Meath could just as easily won. Meath lost nothing in defeat and it is a pity that undefeated teams are not kept apart at the semi final stage

Blocking runs and tripping people are cynical as they are done to stop the opposition building an attack, the black card has reduced this hugely. Fouls can be accidental and thats often where the grey area is

Brolly's Exclusion Zone - 1 Like(s)
Another suggestion without thinking it through. Makes as much practical sense as all kick outs beyond the 45 1/ if forwards withdraw outside exclusion zone no short kick outs are possible and the middle area is over crowded 2/ it would result it a series of sprints from the edge of the zone, hardly appealing.

Meath V Dublin Leinster Final. - 1 Like(s)
Have to congratulate Dublin on their win, hugely accurate and efficient in the last 25 mins in difficult conditions. Meath obviously needed to convert their chances in order to ask questions of Dublin and difficult to know where they go from here

Proposals For 2Nd Tier Championship Pathetic - 1 Like(s)
Right or wrong it's in now so we need to make the best of it, makes div 2 and 3 very important next year too. I'd hope the ticket prices are such that people will attend. Everyone is still in the snr championship if good enough and this just might encourage more players to commit knowing they have a competition the can realistically hope to win.

Paraic Duffy to step down as Director-General of the GAA - 1 Like(s)
It's a difficult piece for anyone outside of Dublin to comment on for fear of the " sour grapes tag" inequality is alive and well within all sections of the gaa and not just Dublin, clubs that have profitable club houses or big sponsors will be able to do things at a more professional level and over time this matters. Dublin have done a tremendous job of exploiting their natural advantages over the last few years and fair dues to them but it has changed the playing field. They have created a self sustainable model that no other county can get near, Kerry and Mayo have competed in recent years by raising money from abroad but that's not sustainable long term. No simple solution to this but ignoring it won't fix it either.

Dublin's Success Not Down To Money - GAA President - 1 Like(s)
I really don't think most people have a problem with Dublin winning other than like Kilkenny and Kerry before them the public are a bit bored with it. However a lot of people are put out by the president saying it's all down to volunteers and nothing to do with money thereby implying every other counties volunteers are just not working hard enough to keep up.
