Experienced Kildare forward Martin Fitzgerald has been given the honour of captaining the side in 2019.

New Kildare manager David Herity and his selectors have opted for the Ardclough man to take over from Brian Byrne who led the county to Christy Ring success in 2018.

Byrne will be the team’s vice-captain as they look to build on their All-Ireland success this year.

Kildare begin their NHL 2B campaign with an away trip to Donegal on Sunday, January 27th and they will have to do so without the services of Mark Moloney who retired from inter-county hurling last week.
