In the 2019 State Aid Free Championship we are being treated to some good football.
Ulster was described as the new Munster Hurling Championship!
Roscommon shocked Mayo and then Galway.
Limerick claimed Tipperary's scalp against the odds. Clare made a battle of it against Kerry while others were watching the Champions League final! Cork and Kerry was an open and attacking provincial final.
There have been some great games in the qualifiers in recent weeks.
Football in the State Aid Free Championship has been good and entertaining. State Aid Free have to meet State Aid at some stage. This is where things will change.
The Super 8 State Aid Free Group looks like anyone will get out of the group.
The State Aid group should see an interesting game in Dr. Hyde Park.

Tipperary nearly won the '14 hurling final after being awarded a late dubious free. They missed and Kilkenny won the replay.
Are there examples of All-Irelands being won by award of a late dubious free?

It speaks volumes about the competition in Munster when Clare losing to Kerry by 6 points, Kerry having missed 3 open goals and the gap should have been 15 points, is seen as "making a battle of it". Alas the result in Munster was the same as it had been on 80 previous occasions, Kerry's annual coronation and token issuing of book markers to their panel. Munster is a huge issue for the GAA. If a spotlight is to be shone on Leinster now that Dublin's team continues it's purple patch then surely a century of dominance in Munster in the case of Kerry has to come into question. A massive problem now for HQ. What's good for the goose..." Kerry travelled to Ennis while many were watching the Champions League final.
Kerry also travelled to Cork for the Munster final.
When did Dublin last win a provincial title without a game in Dublin?

Donegal, Mayo and Tyrone are favourites to make the semi-finals.
Roscommon and Cork are capable of causing an upset against Tyrone but Tyrone will be expected to pick up wins as they did over Kildare and Cavan.
Are Meath outsiders for making the semi-finals? I'm not writing them off, I just think every other team will be more confident of getting the results required.

Replying To Inatfullforward: "I did say that TG4 do trojan work but RTÉ have covered league games this year. Most people don't speak Irish so the experience of watching a national final is greatly diminished. I'm sure there's a lot of people disappointed today not to be able to watch and listen in English. I'm not saying RTÉ deserve the final as they are abismal by times but surely GAA fans in their homes today deserve better than this ." Is it still April Fool's? Do you know the words to the national anthem?

Leinster 2019:
SF. Dublin v Kildare, Croke Park.
Final. Dublin v Meath, Croke Park.
Leinster 2020:
QF. Westmeath v Dublin, Mullingar?
The Leinster counties should seek venue equity. The AFL have a fixture equity policy.
The year after Dublin host a Leinster final, their next Leinster game in the following year should be in the backyard of their opponent.
Sure there are season ticket holders. A stipulation in the season ticket purchase can be that the quarter-final cannot be guaranteed depending on the host venue.

Replying To baire: "It wasn't just GAA hq, there was political interference by a certain Taoiseach from 1995 that deliberately skewed things in Dublin's favour. We all know this, he even boasted about it, you can read it on the web! As for expecting the privileged Pale to appreciate the fate of others, you're wasting your time!" Was the political interference sought?
Dublin seem to have had free reign in getting more and more advantages.
Businesses follow the money. The GAA were shrewd to build Croke Park with premium and corporate levels.
While the GAA were not initially on board Dublin GAA plans, when they saw the financial advantages they were happy to get on board.
They have built a runaway train without any opposition.
Other factors like fending off Leinster Rugby and bringing a Spring Series to Croke Park have added more layers of advantages.

Hand back the medals. 81 titles in Munster. I mean really. Time for the Rebels to rebel and get Kerry moved into Ulster." We were lucky to get out of Limerick with a draw in 2004. Can Dublin relate to playing a final in an opponents ground?

Dublin started playing their league games in Croke Park marketed as the Spring Series to fend off the growing support for Leinster Rugby.
Munster, Connaught and Ulster rugby have professional status to compete with Leinster. Rural GAA counties do not.

It is already too late to save the next few years but should be addressed sooner rather than later.
Dublin officials used their location and influence to steal a march on their rivals who were asleep at the wheel. HQ let it happen.
Some posters here are like the type of people who instead of admitting something is wrong have a knee jerk reaction of insisting they themselves are great and attack anyone telling the truth" You've hit the nail on the head. Rural county boards and administrators are to blame too. As recently as the most recent congress, the idea of voting against Dublin having 2 Croke Park games in the Super 8s was called being mean spirited!
It a team engineers a soft penalty, are they going to decline it? Were Mayo going to ask for 12 minutes of injury time last Saturday?
The Munster Council declaring that Kerry and Cork should be seeded in opposite semi-finals was wrong. Fair play to the Munster Footballers who stood up against it.
Fair play to the Donegal County Board for trying to bring Stadia fairness to the Super 8s.
