Rory O’Carroll could be the answer to the Dublin full-back line’s vulnerability under the high ball, according to Down All-Ireland winner Conor Deegan.

Deegan managed O’Carroll at club level with Kilmacud Crokes and if he was in Jim Gavin’s shoes he would have no hesitation in recalling the two-time All-Star who recently returned from a three year stint in New Zealand.

“It's a position that I believe is a slight problem at the moment for Dublin, even with the players back that they're missing at the moment,” Deegan pointed out to The Herald.

“If it is a risk, it's only a slight one.

“He's a good fella. He's a very good guy around the camp. He's not a toxic presence in any shape or form.

“He likes a bit of craic and a bit of fun, which is very, very important. I can't see any major negatives in bringing him back. I really can't.

“If I was Jim, I'd be bringing him in.”
