All-Star defender Padraig Hampsey will be confined to the sidelines for Tyrone’s league opener against Kerry this week.

The Coalisland clubman missed the successful Dr McKenna Cup campaign due to a groin injury and he told the Irish News that he won’t be lining out against the Kingdom in Fitzgerald Stadium this Sunday.

He is also rated doubtful for the round 2 and round 3 games against Mayo and Roscommon respectively.

“I had a bit of bother through the Club Championship with my groin and stuff like that but it’s starting to clear up,” he said.

“Hopefully now within the next two to three weeks I’ll be back on the pitch.”
