UL will face Mary I next week after seeing off Maynooth University by 0-21 to 1-13 in tonight’s Fitzgibbon Cup third round clash at the UL Grounds.

The hosts were in control throughout, having built up a 0-11 to 1-3 lead after Maynooth had goaled in the 10th minute to level proceedings.

With Kyle Hayes and Jake Morris to the fore, the 2018 champions kept their foot on the throttle for much of the second-half and ensured an all-Limerick clash at the Mary Immaculate Grounds on Wednesday 29th.

In tonight’s other Round 3 clash, Sean Loftus netted the game’s only goal as NUI Galway overcame Cork IT by 1-15 to 0-11.

The Galway students’ went in at the break leading by 0-10 to 0-6, with Evan Niland contributing 0-7, leaving CIT to chase the game throughout the second-half before losing Sean Walsh to a second caution with seven minutes to go.

NUIG now face IT Carlow away in the quarter-finals next week.

Earlier in the day, Mary I made their goals count against Waterford IT to ensure themselves a home clash in the last eight.
