Pat Flanagan admits he was proud to add Roscommon to the list of counties where he has won senior football championships as manager.

The former Westmeath, Sligo and Offaly boss guided Padraig Pearses to their first-ever Roscommon crown on Sunday, having previously recorded similar success with Clara in Offaly and Tyrrellspass in Westmeath.

“It’s something I’m proud of. Every team I have trained at club level, we have won championships,” he told RTE. “When I walked into the dressing room, I said to the Pearses boys that I wasn’t there to win a championship for myself

“I believe in that, that’s the way I work because the bottom line is that if you don’t want to win something for yourself, you are not going to do it for someone else.”
