The long commute from the capital to the north west doesn't bother new Donegal midfielder Nathan Mullins.

The 27-year-old St Vincent's clubman - voted Dublin Club Footballer of the Year in 2017 - was Man of the Match as Donegal defeated Armagh in a refixed McKenna Cup semi-final on Saturday. He was born in Dublin and played U21 football for the Dubs, but gew up in Carndonagh as his father Brian - winner of four All-Irelands with Dublin! - was teaching there.

The all-action midfielder accepted Declan Bonner's invitation to line out for Donegal and he points out that being Dublin-based only poses a minor inconvenience:

"No, if travelling up and down the road is going to be the worst problem we are going to have then we are going to have a good year," he is quoted in The Irish News.

"I don't mind it at all, it depends on the schedule as a few of us are training away up in Dublin like Paddy McBrearty and Marty O'Reilly.

"I am happy enough, just keeping the head down and trying to work hard and get used to the rest of the team and get used to playing this style of football. I am happy enough with the way I was brought into the squad but we have a big game in Kerry next week."
