Galway forward Sean Armstrong has retired from inter-county football for a second time, and this time it looks like his decision is final.

The 32-year-old previously retired in December 2014, citing a loss of appetite for the inter-county game, before returning at the start of the 2017 season. The Salthill-Knocknacarra sharpshooter helped the Tribesmen to an Allianz League Division 2 title last year and Connacht SFC honours this year, with his final appearance in the maroon and white coming in the 1-24 to 2-12 All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Dublin last month.

Armstrong first burst onto the scene in 2005 when he and Michael Meehan were the scoring stars of Galway's All-Ireland U21FC success and became known as the county's new 'Terrible Twins'. 'Army' won an All-Ireland club SFC title with Salthill-Knocknacarra the following year and Connacht SFC medals in 2005 and '08.
