After guiding Dublin to a Walsh Cup win over Carlow in his first game in charge last night, Mattie Kenny outlined his ambitions for his tenure.

The two-time All-Ireland Club winning Cuala manager hopes to have the Sky Blues challenging for major honours in the year ahead.

“There was good work done with the team last year,” he told Sky Sports.

“We're the guys in charge now. It's our responsibility to take Dublin to the next level in the coming year.

“We've a good squad of players willing to go out and represent their county and represent the jersey.

“We're looking forward as we go into 2019 to prepare for the league and then on into the championship.”
